The Prose show was held at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue, and as well as the show, I got to get some cool backstage beauty hots of the models heavy red lip looks. Designed by Miriam Lehle and Sabine Egler, they first designed pieces for the Topshop Edit Boutique in Oxford Street, before showing at the On|Off Schedule. Eschewing normative trends, the collection was inspired by texture and colour; in this case a blue curtain, shredded and re-dyed and woven into garments as feather-like leather fringing. Sumptuous velvet in burnt orange and printed fabrics were also present in jackets and a draped dress, and the unstructured, looser shapes were a nice change from the heavily tailored looks that seem to be everywhere right now, such as tunics and cropped, wide tops, though we did spot a few bang-on-trend collars that kept things sharp to a degree. I loved the huge bibs made of the paper-like frizz and retro, androgynous brogue-like shoes with chunky heel, especially those in tweed. Despite the original take on texture and shape, the orange and cobalt colour-ways seemed to fit right in to the current fashion landscape, as well as the Autumn favourites, grey, brown and black. A strong collection and jolly good show.
